Thomas (Tom) Brandt was born in 1991 in Bremen, Germany.
After his first theater productions (including in Yarmouth, Canada, where he also worked as a lobster fisherman) and his involvement in various bands, he completed his acting studies from 2012 to 2016 at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig. During his training, he was a member of the Schauspielstudio Köln.
In the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, he was a permanent ensemble member at Schauspiel Köln, where he played the role of Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet" alongside Kristin Steffen in a production by Pınar Karabulut. Furthermore, he collaborated with directors such as Stefan Bachmann, Rafael Sanchez, Charlotte Sprenger, Moritz Sostmann, Roger Vontobel, and Armin Petras.
Brandt also appeared in various film and TV productions (e.g., "Als wir träumten," directed by Andreas Dresen, as well as several episodes of "SOKO Leipzig"), took on the lead role of journalist Sebastian Lamprecht in the Audible audio series "Memo" by Philipp Reinartz in 2020, and is also active as a musician (for example with his band "tinie creatures").
In 2023, he was part of the "Art Labs" in Accra, Ghana and cologne, as both an actor and musician, and in 2024, he participated in a similar project in Berlin. In 2024/25, amongst other projects, he appeared in "Momo" at Schauspiel Köln (directed by Ildikó Gáspár) and the international production „Fuck, Marry, Kill“ which was staged in Germany, Ghana and Uganda.
In 2026 he also worked on several film and music projects in Uganda.
Brandt currently lives as a freelancer in Cologne, and in addition, he is active in refugee aid and anti-racism work.
